Zelnorm indirectly via stimulation of serotonin effects in intestines improves condition of women with severe, chronic, irritable bowel syndrome.
Zelnorm is a medication regulating a motor function of the gastrointestinal tract, a partial agonist of serotonin 5-HT4-receptors with a selective effect on the gastrointestinal tract. Serotonin is an important factor that controls the contractions which are less frequent in constipated patients. Zelnorm enhances motility, increases the basal motor activity and normalizes an impaired propulsive activity throughout the gastrointestinal tract. It is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in women which is characterized by abdominal pain, constipation or diarrhea.
Side effects:
This medication is well tolerated in majority of patients, but some side effects may occur: headache, abdominal pain, gas, and diarrhea. More serious side effects are angina, heart attacks, stroke, flu like symptoms.

Missed dose:
Take the forgotten dose as soon as you remember about it. If it is almost time of your next dose just skip it and return to your regular schedule.

Immediate medical attention in needed in case you overdosed intake of the medicine. Symptoms of Zelnorm overdose may include diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting.
