Gestanin is a hormone applied to prevent habitual spontaneous abortion and to prevent premature labour.
Gestanin is a hormone progestogen similar to progesterone. The medication stimulates a secretory phase of the cyclic changes in endometrium and creates conditions for development of the fertilized egg, reduces contractile activity and sensitivity to oxytocin of the muscular outer layer of the uterus. Gestanin also activates growth of acini of the mammary glands, increases deposits of fat, promotes accumulation of liver glycogen and increases metabolism of glucose, increases production of aldosterone by the adrenal glands. Gestanin is used to prevent a miscarriage, a preterm birth.

Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor.
Dosage: one tablet three times a day and maximum up to 4 tablets a day until symptoms improve.

Cautions
Check with your doctor if you have cardiac or renal dysfunction, migraine, epilepsy, and asthma.

Possible side effects
Gastrointestinal complaints like nausea, vomiting, epigastric discomfort have been reported.

Overdosage
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include unusual drowsiness; rapid pulse; fainting; unusual muscle movement or rigidity of the face, neck, or limbs; seizures; and loss of consciousness.
